Into the forest I go – skiing in deep snow

We slowly make our way through the forest. The trees around us are embedded in a fluffy, white cover. The branches hanging low, bowing under the weight of the snow. The silence out here is palpable. After a while we stop. My breathe creates a cloud of white fog that floats away and quickly dissolves. It’s cold out here.

Sky attempts to sit down, but quickly gets up again and lifts one paw off the ground. She turns and looks at me as if to ask if we can keep on walking, the cold affecting even her. I look around the beautiful glade we’re standing in. The setting sun makes the otherwise deep, blue sky turn into a burning red and yellow.

The trees stand tall under the weight of the snow. Even though we’ve gotten plenty of snow this winter, they’ve seen worse. Between two trees is an old track from a small animal, it’s too far under the snow to tell from what. I take a deep breath and touch skys head with my hand to tell her that we’re going. She wags her tail and starts pushing through the deep snow once again.

As we make our way back to the car, I can feel my soul returning to my body and mind.

My whole being shifts energy. My mind is right here, right now. Just as it was created to be. All the thoughts that have been flying around in my head lately have dissolved, much like the white fog when I breathe, and left my mind calm and empty. As we reach the car again, the sun is just about to set and we’re all tired, calm and happy.

Into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul.
